Over half term some of our Year 12 students and Miss Blackburn were on an exchange trip to Yangzhou High School, in the Jiangsu province of China. As well as spending time with their host families, students were able to take part in a wide range of activities at the school. They also shared information about their lives in England, including the delights of the English breakfast, with their Chinese classmates. The school day ends at 9pm in China!
Staff have been working on Improvement Planning in their CPD session. The plenary task - to present a summary of their subject or area Development Plan in under 30 seconds - was certainly a challenge. First prize went to Computing for an excellent 32 second attempt.

The provision of outstanding teaching and learning facilities which support our students in the development of the skills and knowledge to ensure their success has always been central to the development of our school site. We are enormously grateful for the pledges and donations already received. This has meant that over the summer we have been able to progress with part of our plans, providing an extension to the dining hall. This will also function as a teaching, meeting and lecture space.
We are now in a period of severe pressure on central government spending and cuts to school budgets. We are continuing to seek financial support to replace aging buildings and provide the kind of indoor sports facilities taken for granted by most other secondary schools in the area.
We have developed, in conjunction with our professional advisors, some simple but excellent designs to build four additional classrooms and a modern sports hall.
We intend to apply again to the Education Funding Authority for a development grant. To ensure that we are successful we need to show that we can match government funds. To that end we have to raise around £500,000 to show the school’s commitment and confidence in these exciting projects. Can you help?
Further information and donation forms are available below.
Donations can also be made via Parent Pay or contact the Assistant Business Manager (Finance),
The school is a registered charity and can claim tax back on gift aided donations.
We would be enormously grateful for any donation that you feel able to give.
